Tetra Pak, WWF Team Up for Pakistan's Sixth Recycling Campaign

For the sixth year running, Tetra Pak Pakistan, a leader in environmentally friendly food processing and packaging solutions, has teamed up with WWF Pakistan to carry out a national awareness campaign that teaches young Pakistani pupils the value of reducing, reusing, and recycling. This year’s student involvement campaign will be implemented in 50 schools located in the major cities of Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi.

This exceptional chance, which is founded on the contemporary teaching approach of experience-based learning, will benefit more than 10,000 Pakistani youngsters, aged 5 to 13, enrolled in grades 1 through 7. Tetra Pak’s Sustainability Director, Volkan Aydeniz, formally launched the student involvement initiative in collaboration with WWF, training executives. The team is rapidly approaching its goal, having already carried out about 18 recycling awareness workshops with over 1700 kids from 17 schools in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. The campaign will consist of 120 sessions and involve both government and private institutions.

Students are intended to gain an understanding of the significance of real-world issues like environmental conservation, waste reduction, material reuse, and waste recycling through the use of visual aids such as instructional animation videos, captivating storytelling sessions, interactive group activities like arts and crafts sessions, and instruction on how to make useful items using recycled Tetra Pak cartons. The program’s goal is to give young people an engaging and unforgettable educational experience on sustainability and recycling. These meetings further demonstrate Tetra Pak’s unwavering dedication to advancing sustainability.

Each student will get an activity book as a memento of their involvement, and this year, they will also have the chance to take part in a carton collection and recycling competition. Students will actively participate in gathering Used Beverage Carton (UBC) garbage as a fresh element to this year’s program, encouraging a sense of responsibility towards recycling. The gathered cartons will be given to another company for processing, supporting a circular and sustainable packaging strategy.

This Recycling Awareness Campaign demonstrates Tetra Pak’s continuous commitment to environmental stewardship and WWF’s dedication to promoting a future where people and nature coexist together. The program seeks to inculcate in the next generation a sense of responsibility and environmental concern through action and education.
