In 2023, both lengthy dramas and condensed Shorts were popular among Pakistani YouTube viewers. Dramas, Desi music, and everyday vloggers like Ducky Bhai and Zamzam Electronics Trading dominated top lists.
With an average of more than 70 billion views per day, YouTube Shorts brought a breath of fresh air to the platform, drawing in Gen Z and millennials who were looking for quick, interesting content. Long-form material flourished as well, demonstrating Pakistan’s continued love for videos. Top popular videos featured a variety of subjects and eye-catching imagery, selected for their impact and interaction.
According to Google’s regional director Farhan Qureshi, “Pakistan’s cultural evolution is reflected in the top trending lists.” “We observe different fan bases for music, dramas, and vlogs, as well as a spike in Shorts viewership. In order to reach new audiences, creators are embracing multiformat approaches and promising even more diverse material in the future.”
With ad-free listening, offline play, and immersive features, YouTube Music and Premium enhanced the experience, keeping music as a significant appeal. Artists such as Zamzam Electronics Trading, whose videos, “watch funny magic of fan” and “happies is helping others,” topped both the Top Producers and Breakout Creators lists, are prime examples of multiformat producers’ success.
