Google Bridges Digital Skills Gap in Pakistan with New Programs

Google is rolling out a comprehensive set of initiatives to bridge the digital skills gap in Pakistan. These programs focus on empowering individuals, particularly women and freelancers, with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in the digital economy.

Upskilling for All:

Google AI Essentials, a free online course, introduces beginners to the fundamentals of AI and its practical applications. Participants learn how to leverage AI tools to boost productivity and gain hands-on experience.

Career Advancement Opportunities:

Google Career Certificates offer industry-recognized online credentials in high-demand fields like data analytics, cybersecurity, and digital marketing. To increase accessibility, Google is allocating up to 45,000 scholarships in 2024 for these programs.

Supporting the Freelance Community:

Recognizing Pakistan’s thriving freelance market, Google has partnered with the Pakistan Freelancers Association (PAFLA). This collaboration provides training programs focused on soft skills like personal branding and communication, equipping freelancers with the tools they need to compete effectively.

Empowering Women in Tech:

Google, alongside long-term partner Tech Valley, launched the Career Kamyabi program. This initiative promotes gender diversity in the workforce by advocating for equal opportunities and connecting women with potential employers. It has already garnered support from over 50 leading Pakistani employers.

Farhan Qureshi, Google’s Country Director for Pakistan, emphasized the company’s commitment to fostering a “Future Forward Pakistan.” These initiatives aim to equip young talent with the necessary digital skills to flourish in the digital landscape. Google plans to continue investing in programs like Google Career Certificates, solidifying their presence in Pakistan and fostering a culture of learning, empowerment, and inclusivity for all.
