In order to address the growing threat posed by heatwaves in Pakistan, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and the Aga Khan University’s Center of Excellence for Trauma and Emergencies (CETE) have cooperated. The partnership intends to fortify reaction tactics, raise public awareness, and create a thorough heatwave management plan.
Leading government figures and subject matter experts convened at a recent stakeholder forum to deliberate on the matter. The panel came to the conclusion that managing heatwaves required a more coordinated approach, one that included creating more powerful district disaster management agencies and launching successful public awareness programs.
In an effort to raise public awareness of heat emergencies, CETE has also created an animated awareness film. AKU and PDMA hope to safeguard vulnerable populations and lessen the effects of heatwaves by pooling their resources and exchanging information.
