Syngenta Pakistan recently hosted a strategic three-day visit from Mr. Jerome Barbaron, Regional Business Head for Africa & Middle East (AME), and Mr. Haytham Shbaita, Head of Regulatory Affairs & Product Safety – Asia, Middle East & Africa (AMEA). This visit underscores Syngenta’s long-term commitment to enhancing agricultural development in Pakistan.
The delegation engaged with key government stakeholders, including the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the Ministry of National Food Security & Research, and the Punjab Agriculture Department. Discussions centered on fostering public-private partnerships to boost agricultural productivity and resilience.
Syngenta’s team, including Country General Manager Zeeshan Baig, highlighted the critical need for a stable regulatory environment to drive innovation and attract sustainable foreign investment. “Predictable regulation is key to attracting global investment and driving innovation in agriculture,” stated Mr. Barbaron.
With agriculture contributing 23% to Pakistan’s GDP and employing over 38% of the workforce, Syngenta’s visit emphasized the importance of robust policy frameworks and strategic collaborations to ensure food security and economic growth. The visit reaffirmed Syngenta’s commitment to partnering with Pakistani institutions to cultivate a thriving and resilient agricultural sector.
