Kangana Ranaut Blames 'Mastermind' Aamir Khan

Bollywood diva Kangana Ranaut, who is known to grab headlines for her bold statements, reacts to the recent #Boycott Lal Singh Chadha controversy. In his long Instagram story, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan drew controversy over his film controversy.

She referred to actor Khan as a “mastermind” and claimed that he was responsible for the unfavourable publicity surrounding the official Hindi version of the Academy Award–winning 1994 movie “Forrest Gump.”

“I believe that mastermind Aamir Khan Ji himself has expertly crafted all the hatred around the upcoming movie Laal Singh Chadda,” she said. Since Hollywood remakes haven’t been successful in the past, the 35-year-old believes that this controversy would help “Laal Singh Chadda” gain more attention. She added that Khan was motivated to spread unfavourable publicity about his future movie by the success of South Asian movies at the box office.”

“This year, only south films that are thoroughly entrenched in Indian culture or have a local flavour have succeeded (with the exception of a comedic sequel in Hindi). A Hollywood remake would not have been successful, ” she Added

The “Fashion” actress claimed that after calling India intolerable and producing a “Hinduphobic” film like “PK” in 2014, Khan delivered the biggest blows of his life.

Hindi films, according to Ranaut, are not about understanding religion but rather the “pulse of the audience.” She pleaded, “Please don’t make it about religion or philosophy; it detracts from their awful acting and bad movies.

Almost two weeks before its theatrical release, social media was buzzing with trends like #Boycott Laal Singh Chaddha, #BoycottAamir Khan and #Boycott Bollywood. Some social media users went through the archives and dug up Khan’s controversial ‘India’s growing intolerance’ comments that spread like wildfire.

In a 2015 interview, the ‘Dangal’ star said, “Our country is very tolerant, but there are people who spread ill-will”. His wife Kiran Rao also made headlines for saying that she considered leaving the country for the safety of their children.

After the trends, Khan urged Indians to watch his new film and not boycott it.

Social media was bustling with hashtags like #BoycottLaal Singh Chaddha, #BoycottAamir Khan, and #Boycott Bollywood over two weeks before the movie’s cinema debut. Some social media users dug up Khan’s divisive remarks about “India’s growing intolerance” from the archives, which quickly went viral.

The “Dangal” star stated in an interview from 2015 that “Our country is fairly tolerant, yet there are some who spread ill-will.” His wife Kiran Rao also garnered media attention when she said that she had pondered fleeing the nation for the sake of their children’s safety.

Khan asked Indians to see his new movie and not boycott it in response to the trends.

Khan has experienced backlash from the public for his films before. The movie “PK” received criticism for supposedly offending religious sensibilities and making fun of Hindu gods. Despite the criticism, the movie made about Rs 832 crore at the box office globally.

Kareena Kapoor and Mona Singh are also in the Advait Chandan-directed film “Laal Singh Chaddha.” Naga Chaitanya, the actor-son of South star Nagarjuna, makes his Bollywood debut with this film. The movie will compete at the box office with “Raksha Bandhan,” which stars Akshay Kumar.

It is planned to premiere on August 11.
