3 Siblings Died after a Truck Ran Over the Flood Victims in Badin

Three siblings who had recently been uprooted by the nation’s devastating flooding were killed on Friday morning when a speeding truck ran them over in Sindh’s Badin district, according to officials. Flood victims were camped out on the major road in Golarchi next to the Haji Amir Shah nullah, Badin Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shahnawaz Chachar informed Dawn.com.

Around 6:20 am, a trailer hauling cargo ran them over while they were dozing off, instantly killing them, according to the SSP. He named the deceased as Inayat, age 18, Wasima, age 12, and Seema, age 10. As soon as the event was reported, police sped to the scene since flood victims had blocked the route.

As about 40 protesters persisted, authorities detained the conductor and the driver and impounded the vehicle. Golarchi Station House Officer (SHO) Asghar Halepoto identified the driver as Zainullah and the conductor as Noor Gul, emphasising that the vehicle in question had been seized. He claimed to be from the Islamkot region and that the car was carrying coal.

According to Dawn, The official stated that the victims had been sent to the Indus Hospital in the meantime for a post-mortem examination.

One of the provinces most severely impacted by the monsoon rains and accompanying flooding that have caused devastation throughout the nation is Sindh. After an increase in the flow of water down the Indus River on Friday, the water levels in Dadu, which is four hours away from Badin, continued to rise.
