Pakistan is going through an energy crisis, and power failure is a fundamental concern for each citizen. There has been a dire need for indigenous solutions to this issue. Huzaifa Bin Umer took the challenge to create a better future for the energy sector with his project Renewed Energy. The visionary clean-tech start-up offers renewable energy solutions through innovative double-stage Savonius wind turbines, producing power at low air velocity.
Huzaifa began the journey by surveying multiple markets and gathering information to manufacture the localised product. He faced challenges of finding the right components for the turbine and lack of proper technical knowledge in local vendors. But despite all odds, he went on to make a prototype of the turbine as his Final Year Project. Not only did he secure a second position, but Huzaifa was also shortlisted for the National FYP award.
During his days in the NEP-NIC incubation centre, Huzaifa got to know about Shell Tameer, which eased his way into the technical business and become the bridge for them to connect with the right entities and gain sound market knowledge. They learnt a lot and applied the knowledge to unlock new achievements.
Renewed Energy, has a mission to empower people to make their own electricity. The young-led startup will utilise natural wind energy resources of Sindh & Balochistan to harvest electricity.
“By creating a valuable energy system in Pakistan we will reduce the import bills and provide a better alternative to already available options,” believes Huzaifa.
