NDMA sends relief aid to quake-hit Turkiye, Syria

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Pakistan has advanced in its efforts to assist the recently displaced Turkish and Syrian brothers and sisters who were impacted by the earthquake. Over 1221 tonnes of relief supplies were recently transported off by the NDMA from the South Asia Pak Terminal in Karachi in 65 containers.

The cargo ship is transporting 15,000 ration bags for Syria in 24 containers and 41 containers filled with 8,200 winterized tents for Turkey. The supplies will be delivered to Syria by the end of March 2023 and Turkiye on March 23–24. The NDMA is leading extensive relief efforts by utilizing all possible transportation methods, including air, sea, and land.

The NDMA has additionally declared that soon, special chartered freight flight operations will start in order to help individuals impacted by the earthquake. Moreover, help will be delivered to Turkiye using the belly space of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) regular flights.
