WaterAid Pakistan Launches Country Programme Strategy 2023-2028

WaterAid Pakistan announced its innovative Country Programme Strategy, laying out a clear path for the advancement of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) throughout the nation. To achieve long-lasting effects on public health, this five-year strategy places a high priority on integration with the health sector and climate-resilient WASH services.

Diverse stakeholders were present at the launch ceremony, including academics, local authorities, members of the media, and notable visitors like Senator Seemee Azdi (Chairperson, Climate Change Committee) and Ms. Sitara Ayaz (Secretary-General, International Parliamentarian Congress).

The vital responsibilities that stakeholders, academia, and civil society play in enhancing Pakistan’s WASH environment were examined in a panel discussion. Dr. Muhammad Rafiq of IM Sciences, Mr. Liaqat Ali of the Doaba Foundation, Dr. Hifza Rasheed, Director-General of PCRWR, Muhammad Nawaz from USAID Pakistan, and Sehr Afsheen, Country Representative of VSO, all offered valuable insights during the panel discussion.

Calling for a united front, Mr. Muhammad Fazal, Head of Program Strategy and Policy at WaterAid, urged government, development agencies, and legislators to prioritize WASH access across all programs and plans.

WaterAid Pakistan’s Country Director, Arif Jabbar Khan, thanked the guests and reiterated the organization’s dedication to collaborating with local governments, partners, and communities to guarantee access to clean water and sanitary facilities for everybody.
