AKU and UNICEF Collaborate to Enhance Primary Education in Balochistan

To improve basic education in the area, Aga Khan University’s Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED) has teamed up with UNICEF and the Education Department of the Government of Balochistan. The Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and the European Union (EU) are providing funding for this project.

The Bureau of Curriculum, Balochistan Textbook Board, Provincial Institute of Teacher Education, Directorate of Education (Schools), and Balochistan Examination and Assessment Commission are just a few of the educational organizations with which AKU-IED will collaborate and provide technical support as part of this partnership.

AKU President Dr. Sulaiman Shahabuddin stressed the school’s dedication to providing high-quality instruction and bolstering the educational system through partnerships with the public sector. The project intends to raise the standard of education and guarantee that every kid in Balochistan has access to excellent educational opportunities.

Enhancing primary-level learning design, building the capacity of master trainers and subject specialists for Science, Math, and English for Grades 6–8, preparing authors and reviewers for textbook preparation, and setting up ICT infrastructure to support online training initiatives are some of the main goals of the project.

Additionally, AKU-IED and Finnish Global Education Solutions will work together to integrate aspects of the Finnish educational system into the curriculum of Balochistan.

The project has the potential to improve teachers’ abilities and aid in Balochistan’s educational development, addressing issues with curriculum delivery in the classroom and raising the standard of education in the area, according to UNICEF Education Officer Hamid Baqi. Through this collaboration, children will be given the tools they need to succeed in school and in life.
