Tesla’s new microchip will be more intelligent than humans by 2033. At the moment, the microchip’s processing power is equivalent to 36% of the human brain.

The D1 microchip, according to a study conducted by Vinarama, a car and van leasing company, can perform 362 billion operations per second, while the human brain can perform 1 million billion operations per second.

The company made this prediction after evaluating past and current Tesla chips, which revealed that microchip capacity is increasing at a rate of 486 percent per year.

Elon Musk’s company, according to Vinarama, will release its new D1 chip this year. The chip will be a critical component of Tesla’s Autopilot self-driving system and the Dojo supercomputer platform.

Scientists have long predicted that artificial intelligence will one day surpass human intelligence, though experts disagree on when this will occur.

According to Vinarama it is not irrational to believe that technology will surpass humans in intelligence within our lifetimes. Microchips can now act like synapses (connections between nerve cells) in the human brain.
